A fisherman from an early age, I have been tracking trout since 1990 by casting, since 1994 by fly and from time to time by toc.
Colombières is located in the northwest of the department of Hérault in the upper valley of the Orb in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of Haut Languedoc (Hérault), it is a mountainous region, green but Mediterranean par excellence.
Rivers, Water Courses
The river Orb: Very varied, from its source on the southern edge of the Causse du Larzac to its mouth at Valras plage (1st and 2nd category), all types of fishing and all types of fish are possible.
The rivers: The Jaur, the Mare nearby, but also the Agoût (30 min) and the Sorgue (45 min) offer magnificent courses that have nothing to do except the presence of trout. Just a little further, the nationally renowned Vis gorges are worth a detour.
Mountain torrents: These descend the steep slopes of the Caroux (1091m) alternating waterfalls and chasms to reach the Orb (250m). In Colombières, Arles and Madale are excellent and their trout are absolutely beautiful. But these courses are reserved for athletes!
For predators (pike, black-bass, zander and perch): Salagou lake, Hérault river and other little-known sites…

❝ These include guiding, technical advice, travel to the fishing spot and the loan of equipment (rod, reel, line, bait, lure or fly) if necessary. The fishing license is at your expense but the Hérault is part of the halieutic club. If you don’t have a permit, I’ll pick it up before you arrive.
Discover fishing
Fly fishing casting lessons (2h): on the grass or in the water, I will show you the technique of this fishing before venturing on a course. Certainly it is not the most pleasant but it is a necessary step for beginners.
Evening fishing (2-3h): magic moment for all dry fly fishers, if hatching there is… reading the river, approaching the fish, presentation of the fly, gestures and notions of entomology are on the program (like for the following services).
Half day (4h): morning or evening. Identical program. All techniques are possible.
The day (8h): A local snack is planned. Choice of technique.
❝ I offer three different formulas, the weekend, the week with either 5 days of fishing, or 5 half-days if you want to take advantage of your stay to visit the region more fully, which can be a good idea. I can lend you the equipment if you let me know in advance. All-inclusive stays (fishing, accommodation, catering), customizable, are possible.
Recharge
- Weekends: after a long week of hard work, what better way to recharge your batteries than a good weekend alone or with friends by the water. You arrive on Friday evening, there we will do a little update on the equipment, the license… Two days of fishing, Saturday and Sunday in the best corners of the high cantons of Hérault.
- Weekly formulas: How about a short fishing trip in a region where the sun shines around 300 days a year? You arrive on Saturday, fine-tuning with regard to the equipment, the permit and then it’s good… Five days or five half-days of relaxation await you in the sumptuous setting of the Haut Languedoc Regional Natural Park.
